What You’ll Learn & Do
As an Entry Level Technician / Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced HVACR technicians and begin developing professional skills in:
Installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial HVAC & refrigeration systems
Using tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment safely and correctly (core UA curriculum includes safety, tool use, plan reading, math, and science).
- Understanding refrigeration cycles, electrical components, air handling systems, and temperature control equipment
- Assisting with preventive maintenance and inspections
- Communicating effectively with senior technicians, customers, and your team
- Learning proper refrigerant recovery, handling, and environmental standards
- Tackling technical challenges that go beyond routine “filter change” calls
This role sets the foundation for long term growth into a fully licensed HVACR Service Technician, and eventually opportunities in advanced refrigeration, industrial equipment, or our Scientific Division.
Training Structure
Apprentices entering the UA training pathway receive:
2,000 hours per year of paid, on the job training
216 hours of annual classroom instruction at no cost
Up to 45 transferable college credits earned through the program
Training from experienced journeymen at state of the art facilities

Who We’re Looking For
You might be a great fit if you are:
18 years or older with a high school diploma or GED (UA apprenticeship requirement)
mechanically inclined or curious about how things work
reliable, motivated, and eager to learn
comfortable working with tools and equipment
someone who values craftsmanship, teamwork, and problem solving
able to pass a background check and have a valid driver’s license
No HVACR experience is required—just dedication and a willingness to learn.
